To join our trusted network of caregivers at AMA Village Care, there is a $35 nonrefundable background check fee. This covers the initial review of your intake form, credential check, and screening for eligibility.
However, please note that this fee is not charged upfront - we will only send the invoice once you have been successfully matched with a family. At that point, you're essentially guaranteed a placement, so we hope this helps ease any concerns about applying!
We never want cost to be a barrier. If this fee is truly a financial burden, please reach out - we’re happy to work with our community sponsors to waive the fee when needed.
If you’re ready to move forward and want full support through the matching process, we also offer an optional $250 onboarding support package.
This includes:
Personalized resume and profile curation
Training materials to prepare you for live-in care
Custom caregiver-family matching assistance
Guidance with interviews, contracts, and placement prep
Ongoing mentorship and resources
Best part? Once you successfully complete your placement contract and receive a positive host family review, you’ll get $100 bonus — our way of rewarding you for commitment and professionalism. Please note: this is only if you have purchased our onboarding support package.
At AMA, we’re here to invest in you, advocate for you, and help you succeed in meaningful care placements.
WHAT WILL I GET PAID AS A CAREGIVER?

You’re an independent caregiver, not our employee, and that means you can build trusted relationships while earning fairly and transparently.

AMA Village Caregiver Experience Levels
At AMA Village Care, we use a four-tiered experience system to help families and caregivers find the right match. Each level is determined by a combination of:
Verified childcare experience (informal or formal)
Age of children previously cared for
Certifications (CPR/First Aide Certifications are required by all caregivers to have prior to first match - if you do not have it upon application, we have an add-on option for it to be purchased and obtained through our education services)
Educational background or special training
Ability to manage specific care responsibilities
References and personal interview assessments
Caregivers self-identify their level during the application, and our team reviews submitted documentation, verifies references, and conducts an interview to confirm accurate placement.
How Levels Are Determined:
Initial Application: Caregivers describe their experience, preferences, and goals.
Interview & Assessment: Our team conducts a personality and care-style interview.
Verification: We review references, certifications, and documents.
Placement Recommendation: We place the caregiver into the appropriate level and notify them of the suggested stipend range.
Caregivers may move up levels with additional training, certifications, or positive performance feedback.
